Weathered Exterior One-Step Stain

$32.00

Natural Whey Exterior Stain is a type of stain that is made from whey, a byproduct of cheese production, minerals, and natural pigments. This stain is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional synthetic stains and is suitable for use on wood and other porous surfaces.

One of the main advantages of using natural whey stain is that it is a sustainable product, as it makes use of a byproduct of the dairy industry that would otherwise go to waste. It's also safe to handle and has low VOC content

Because of the protein found in whey, the stain is able to penetrate deeply into the wood fibers, providing a more natural and durable finish than synthetic stains. It is also water resistant and can help to protect wood from rot and decay.

Natural stain with whey is also a good choice for individuals who are sensitive to chemicals, as it is free of synthetic fragrances and other harmful ingredients that are commonly found in traditional stains.

ADDITIONAL PRODUCT DETAILS

  • Two coats of finish are recommended for full protection. Second coat must be applied while the first coat is still damp (if the first coat fully dries the second coat will not be able to penetrate). This product is not recommended for use on IPE, Mahogany, or other exotic woods.
  • Do not apply when rain is expected in the next 48 hours.

Application:

  1. Stir well prior to use.
  2. Always test the stain on a sample piece of wood to confirm compatibility and desired appearance.
  3. If wood has been previously coated, sand to remove all film build to allow Natural Whey Penetrating Stain to penetrate the wood. Apply with brush, paint pad, foam brush or spray. Do not thin. Thinning will result in reduced product performance. Apply an even coat with the grain of the wood and maintain a wet edge. Coat the end grain of all exposed boards.
  4. Two coats are recommended. Apply second coat while the first coat is still damp. Do not sand between coats.
  5. Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 50 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity of 40%-60%.
  6. Under normal conditions treated wood will be fully cured in 48 hours. One gallon will cover approximately 200-400 sq ft. depending on the porosity of the wood.c
