My living room has been bugging me lately. It seems dark and sort of gloomy. We've had the same winter scene above the mantle since we remodeled 5 years ago. I love the painting, but not year-round.
I wanted a fun painting that'd be easy to change seasonally but after depleting my in store searches I started opening up to the idea of doing something a little quirky.. I've seen this canvas cow pasture painting on Antique Farmhouse numerous times and decided to get it and see how it works. I grew up in a small town in Washington most everyone had cows since it was a huge dairy community. Can you believe I miss the smell of the manure fertilizer we all complained about on the bus heading to school?!
When I got the painting I realized it wasn't big enough to hang solo above the mantle so I held it up to see if it could float above the painting that was already there. It fit perfectly so until I find a frame for it this is how it sits! LOL
It seemed empty in the center of the mantle so I found this gorgeous chicken feeder succulent garden at The Spotted Cow and immediately put my claim on it. I loaded the kids in the car and ran to pick it up before it disappeared! Seriously I missed out on the 2 foot one that Stephanie made and am still grieving over that loss!
We have windows that let in direct sunlight all along the back wall of the room so I'm hoping that will be enough light to keep these little guys alive! Here's the finished result, what do you think?
Up next.. we got CHICKENS!!!
